The Synod of the Northeast is entering a significant season of faithful action following the adoption of the 2025 Reimagining the Church and the World Vision Report. This moment marks a transition from discernment to implementation, bringing the Synod’s shared vision to life in tangible, transformative ways.

At the center of this work is the Implementation and Evaluation Team, which will play a critical leadership role in guiding both the direction and integrity of this next chapter.

This team is entrusted with the dual responsibility of implementation and accountability. It will ensure that the theological commitments, core values, and deep discernment that shaped the vision remain central as the Synod develops new governance structures and mission priorities. In addition, the team will design and oversee implementation strategies while establishing clear processes for evaluation, learning, and ongoing adaptation.

This work calls for leaders who can hold theological depth and strategic clarity together—individuals committed to the Church’s call to justice, innovation, and collaborative ministry across the Synod.

The Implementation and Evaluation Team will consist of nine members, reflecting the breadth and diversity of the Synod, including council members, commissioners, and members-at-large.

Key Details:

  • Application/Nomination Period: April 1 – June 30, 2026
  • Term of Service: Two years
  • Appointment Process: Members will be recommended by the Synod Leader and affirmed by the Ministry and Mission Commission in September 2026
  • Commitment: Quarterly meetings, two in-person two-day gatherings annually, and ongoing engagement between meetings
  • Responsibilities: Provide annual reports to the Synod Assembly and actively participate in implementation efforts

This is an invitation to help shape the future of the Synod—ensuring that the vision not only inspires, but is faithfully embodied in the life of our congregations and communities.
