First Presbyterian Church of Marshfield Wisconsin is a medium size congregation in a small city, currently looking for a solo pastor. We are considered one of the more progressive churches in a region of mixed political and socioeconomic communities. We have a major medical center which brings in people with a diverse range of backgrounds, while we are also surrounded by farms, many of which have been in the family for generations. We were early participants in the Covenant Network, and later More Light Presbyterians, and are an Earth Care certified congregation. We have prioritized welcome for all people regardless of circumstance or station in life and are committed to service to the larger community and our world. We have a diverse and active group of lay leaders, and we welcome Pastor applicants who are inspired by Matthew 25 and a church which seeks to serve others.
- To preach and lead Sunday morning worship, seasonal and special services; administer sacraments of communion and baptism
- To lead strategic assessment of staff structure, giving projections, financial sustainability
- To provide relevant, theologically sound, preaching and teaching and officiate at weddings and funerals
- To direct and lead staff in church operations to foster the church’s mission and ministries
- To provide support for and coordination with music and Christian education staff
- To moderate session meetings and provide support for, coordination of, and communication between committees, with attending meetings as needed
- To be a resource and to help develop and motivate the lay leadership of our congregation
- To offer pastoral care or counseling for those in the hospital, at home, or in crisis
- To attend and support church functions, in coordination with church staff as appropriate
- To effectively communicate both within and outside the church about FPC’s mission and values
- To provide direction for, and understanding of, Presbyterian polity
