Synod Assembly is scheduled this year for October 21st and 22nd in person at the Desmond Hotel in Albany NY. The October 20th pre-assembly event will also take place at the Desmond. The topic is our PCUSA Matthew 25 Initiative with break outs on Dismantling Structural Racism, Eradicating Systemic Poverty and Revitalizing Congregations.
All elected Commissioners and YAADs must attend in person. Presbytery Leaders/Stated Clerks are invited to attend as Corresponding Members. We are creating a health and safety team to make sure we have the highest standards of safety for this gathering. Anyone who attends must show proof of vaccination. The Desmond Hotel was completely renovated and has air scrubbers running 24/7 in all public spaces. This year all hotel rooms will be singles — no sharing except for couples. For those who wish to follow Synod Assembly but are not attending, we will livestream all sessions.
Please let your Presbytery’s Nominating Committee know if you would like to attend Synod Assembly as a Commissioner or YAAD. Each presbytery can send two Ruling Elders, two Ministers of the Word and Sacrament and one YAAD. Please let your presbytery Nominating Committee know if you would like to attend Synod Assembly as a Commissioner. The synod pays expenses for all Commissioners and YAADs. Nominating Committees, please consider nominating your presbytery’s Synod Mission and Ministries Commission Representative as one of your synod commissioners.
