River of Resilience

Thanks to the Robert Washington Scholar program I was able to take part in Duke Divinity School's Foundations on Christian Leadership. We were invited to apply for a grant to address a need. After seeing millions of people march demanding justice for African-Americans who died during police custody and violence I kept sensing a hunger for something different. Many people of color endure the trauma of racism in their bodies, minds, and spirits. For hundreds of years, we have developed strategies to deal with the overwhelming realities of racism. I'd like to help African-Americans learn healing practices. The church should not stay silent in a time when we need to hear about God's healing spirit. River of Resilience aims to provide tools, space to process, and practices to develop this resilience. Any African-American 25 years or older is invited to attend.

You are invited to attend four online sessions each with a unique focus and professional presenter. Cost is free to the participant.  Each person will be grouped into a small group led by another African-American who is passionate about healing.  Small groups will meet online once a month.
