As part of our continued commitment to the Matthew 25 Initiative, the Synod of the Northeast invites you to join us for Indigenous Mission Day on Saturday, September 28, 2024. This day of service is an opportunity to lend a hand in preserving sacred spaces while supporting our indigenous brothers and sisters in faith, as we work to embody the call of Matthew 25.
Juneteenth, the celebration of emancipation from slavery in the United States, holds profound significance in the ongoing struggle for racial justice and equality. In the spirit of the Matthew 25 Initiative, the Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church's Racial Justice Task Force (RJTF) organized a transformative Juneteenth Walking Tour in 2023, shedding light on New York City's complex history of enslavement and its enduring impact on society.
Trinity Presbyterian Church used its Synod grant to support its summer entrepreneur program.
Wolff Memorial Presbyterian Church has been hosting English as a Second Language (ESL) classes and they have been very beneficial to the community. Outside of teaching English, they also are able to provide clothing to help students and their families who are in need. Wolff Memorial Presbyterian Church even received assistance from a community partner to help one of the ESL students receive glasses.
Every First Saturday of the Month, The First Presbyterian Church of Moonachie prepares and bags lunches for their community.
