“The Work Is Before Us”
Young prophetic voices in our Synod challenged the Church to write a new confession for the national church, one that is 57 years in the making. That call was answered affirmatively at the 225th GA in Louisville in June 2022 that was combined with two other overtures from two other presbyteries. GA Commissioners approved establishing the Special Committee to Write a New Confession. The 16-member committee is seeking conversations with members throughout our church body.
On February 25, 2025, at 7:00 pm, Jeniffer and Magalene will lead a conversation to gather your views on the content and form for a new confession or whether you believe there is a need for one. The questions below will help drive our dialogue. And, listening with open hearts and minds, we eagerly look forward to hearing from you.
Grace be yours,
Jeniffer and Magalene

If we write a new confession, what genre should it be?
If we write a new confession, what content does it need to include?
If we write a new confession, what should be its relationship to the existing confessions in the Book of Confessions?
