Visioning Process Update – March 2025

The Visioning Process is underway, with small groups working diligently to prepare their presentations for the Town Hall meeting scheduled for April 22. Each group is clarifying its future goals and developing clear quarterly objectives to present the proposed vision at the Synod meeting on November 15, 2025, at First United Presbyterian Church in Amsterdam, NY. These objectives will guide the groups' efforts in the months leading up to this important presentation. The small groups are led by members of the Discernment Team, along with moderators, working group conveners, and staff. Their work is focused on the seven pillars that will form the foundation of the draft for the new vision.

The Visioning Process team has planned two key meetings on July 22-23 and August 25-27. These events will provide opportunities to deepen discussions and refine strategies as we approach our long-term goals. Additionally, the small groups are actively seeking opportunities to meet with presbyteries and special interest groups to discuss the seven pillars of our vision. These conversations will be crucial for gathering feedback and ensuring broad-based support for the Visioning Process.

In April, the Synod will distribute a set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to help clarify the process and address common inquiries. To keep everyone informed and engaged, a dedicated page on the Synod website will be launched, featuring regular updates and resources related to the Visioning Process. We are excited about the progress made so far and encourage everyone to stay involved as we move forward. Please mark your calendars for the Town Hall meeting on April 22; we look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas as we continue shaping the future of the Synod together.
