2026 INNOVATION GRANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Luke 6:38 (NLT): “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap.”

This scripture serves as a guiding principle for our funding model, reinforcing the idea that generosity and faithful stewardship lead to abundance. By investing in mission-driven initiatives, congregations are not only giving to their communities but also positioning themselves to receive in return—whether through strengthened ministry, increased engagement, or deeper connections.

Under the new funding structure for 2026, Innovation Grants will be set at $10,000 in the first year, with an additional $15,000 available in the second year, contingent on demonstrated progress and sustainability. This model shifts the focus from transactional funding to mission-aligned outcomes, encouraging grantees to pursue meaningful and measurable impact. By fostering greater accountability, the Synod aims to support congregations in strengthening their capacity, expanding their reach, and implementing sustainable practices. Ultimately, this approach enhances innovation, impact, and alignment with the Synod’s mission.

To ensure transparency and engagement, we will communicate these changes to the broader body, beginning with a report in the Synod’s February newsletter. Additionally, on March 17, 2025, we will launch our first monthly newsletter, Funding Through Faith, which will highlight one grant per month. The inaugural edition will feature the Innovation Grant, and each highlighted grant will also be included in the Synod’s newsletter for that month. This initiative provides a structured way to reflect on our funding programs, assess impact, and reinforce alignment with the Synod’s mission and core values.
